	Come spend your spring or summer vacation with us! The daffodils and forsythia will be blooming soon. Spring color is always beautiful in the mountains. The farm is also waking up from its winter slumber. We have planted spinach, arugula, kale and chard. Our lettuce is also beautiful and sweet. The creek is stocked monthly so it is a great time to come fishing. Drive to the top of White Top Mountain for spectacular mountain views of 3 states, ride the Virginia Creeper Trail, or see the wild horses at Mt. Rogers. There are also many art galleries in the town of West Jefferson and 5 wineries within an hours drive from the cabins. At night sit in the hot tub and watch the night sky come alive. If you live in the city you forget how many stars there are! Hope to see you soon. If you are a fly fisherman now is the time to enjoy Helton Creek. It was stocked in early October and last week so there are plenty of fish. Free nights - Book any 2 nights in February and March and receive a 3rd night free. Offer not good during holiday periods. 	We discovered North Carolina's High Country in 1996, and it was love at first sight. The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the world's "must ride" motorcycle roads. And it lived up to its reputation - spectacular in every season! We rode it, and the thousands of miles of other roads in the High Country. The urge to come to the High Country returned every year, and we found ourselves looking for that perfect place. It had to have water. It had to have views. It had to have trout fishing. It had to have roads that were a joy to drive. We found it here on Helton Creek! We have 51 acres which borders Helton Creek for a half mile and is only 2 miles from the New River. Ashe County is a beautiful, unspoiled place to bring your family to enjoy the many area activities, or to get away for a quiet weekend. Check out the Mountain Times "Summer Fun" and the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce for a complete listing of all the area activities. In 2007 we completed two log homes as vacation rentals. They are up on a ridge tucked in the trees with beautiful long range views of the Helton Creek Valley. The cabins are not a second home for us, they were built to appeal to small families or couples, the kind of place we would have wanted when we traveled to the area. We made the decision not to air condition the cabins as it interfered with the enjoyment of the mountains. As travelers to the mountains we couldn't wait to get up here and open all the windows to enjoy fresh mountain air. It is great to wake up to the hum of the hummingbirds and listen to the night sounds with the feel of a gentle breeze. The cabins have ceiling fans and the roof system was designed to prevent heat gain during the day. We hope you will enjoy the pleasures of being in nature as we have. Many families have told us how much they appreciate the time with no TV and no air conditioning. Both are distractions, and their absence gets them outside and helps them to reconnect as a family or a couple. The average high temperature for the summer months is mid to upper 70s and the low is mid to upper 50s. Residential air conditioning is one of the largest consumers of energy, and with average temperatures like those, is simply not needed here in the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway and all of its beauty is 25 minutes away. Since we are closer to Virginia, many of the sites are unknown to our renters. The Virginia Creeper trail is a 17 mile downhill ride with spectacular views. White Top Mountain and Grayson-Highlands State Park are a 20 minute drive. But if you don't want to get out of sight of your cabin, break out the fly rod and try for that 24 inch rainbow in "Old Forge Hole" which is right here on the property.		Helton Creek
